RESIDENCIES
Artists in all media who are selected for the artist-in-residence program will have the opportunity to focus on their work while living in the K.A.F. headquarters, a stunning Florida beach bungalow.
This includes at least 10 hours of consulting a week with
Prof. Krevolin and allows the artist to develop their voices and new work in a safe, supportive space.
VIRTUAL CONSULTING
Artists who want to develop their playwriting, non-fiction writing, screenwriting or fiction can apply below for the chance to work under the tutelage of master teacher, Richard Krevolin
HOW TO APPLY:
As of this time, there is no formal application process or deadlines. Requests are considered on a rolling basis. If you have the desire to do an artist residency or engage in a series of virtual consultations under the tutelage of Prof. Krevolin, simply send an email to RKrevolin@Yahoo.com and tell us what you are working on, what you want to achieve and why you think K.A.F. is a good vehicle to support your artistic journey. Please put the words arts residency
in the header of your email and attach any applicable documents.
When requests are submitted, the K.A.F. Board will meet to assess all applicants’ creative needs and desires and how they fit with the mission of K.A.F. All eligible applicants will be notified by email as to whether or not
they have been accepted.
(In addition, please note that as a young non profit, KAF does not have the funds to sponsor artists and offer free rides. Hence, as of now, residencies and virtual consulting courses must be paid for by the artists.)

(A RECENT ARTICLE FROM SUN MEDIA ABOUT K.A.F.)
Residencies designed to help authors find and tell their stories within
During his 40-year career as an author, playwright, screenwriter and visual artist, Richard Krevolin realized a desire to help others with their creative endeavors. That epiphany led to his successful ventures as a brand narrative consultant and legal consultant in the corporate and legal worlds, but also as a teacher and story doctor.
After a big move he’s now focused almost exclusively on mentoring older creative folks. A few years ago, Krevolin moved his home base from California – where he had taught USC and UCLA film schools – to Sarasota County, Florida, near beautiful Gulf of Mexico beaches, and established the Krevolin Arts Foundation, a 501(c)(3) and placed the focus on virtual consulting and in-house mentoring of writers and would-be authors. He targeted his audience of clients on men and women ages 50 and older.
“I started the foundation because my whole life I’ve been working with fellow artists and I think I have a gift to mentor and support fellow artists,” Krevolin said. “As a result of this work and moving to Florida, I’ve realized there is a need, especially among seniors, who are mentioned in our mission, who have worked their whole lives and have always dreamed of telling stories but don’t know where they can find help to do so. I’ve made it my mission – and the mission of the Foundation – to help seniors to tell their stories and share those stories with the world.”
Like chapters in a book Krevolin might have written, the Foundation offers three ways to help students turn ideas
into stories and stories into published works.
Last year, Krevolin conceived Wordstock, a three-day (weekend) of small-group mentoring at his Sarasota retreat house. In January, Krevolin, a literary agent and a successful author worked with five men and women who are leaders in their respective professions, who feel like they have a book or two in them to write. They focused on conceiving book ideas and strategies for writing books and promoting them.
“Wordstock was great,” Krevolin said. “I hope to do it every year.”
Some of the Wordstock students previously got to know Krevolin through working with him in small (virtual) groups of usually 2-4 writers throughout the year. Both offerings are ongoing. Creating them helped Krevolin develop a third, even more personal consulting service. The Krevolin Arts Foundation offers week-long residencies, in either his Sarasota or Venice center, or virtually, along with 20 hours of mentoring and tutoring by the master teacher.
“People can spend a week in the residence working with me,” Krevolin said. “Or they can do it virtually.
We offer virtual consulting and in-house mentoring.”
Krevolin says he enjoys the weekly virtual group mentoring – and he experienced personal growth from offering Wordstock – but he wants to support even more students’ efforts to become published authors. That’s why the residencies are so important to him.
“Now Wordstock exists as an entity so a lot of my energy is going into creating residencies,” Krevolin said. “We mentor anyone who is over the age of 50 who wants to work with a master teacher on their writing – and even on their painting – if that’s important to them. But most of the people who are coming to us are playwrights, screenwriters, aspiring novelists, even nonfiction writers who have spent their whole lives dreaming about telling their story and don’t really know how to do that at a professional level and are yearning for help
to get that story out into the world.
There’s a fee now for residencies but Krevolin hopes that through the foundation’s nonprofit status he will be able to raise the funds need to offer free residencies throughout the year. That’s “the ultimate goal,” he said.
Krevolin is eager to help anyone who is looking to get mentorship consulting and writing support.
The two centers are in quiet neighborhoods, very conducive to creativity and right now very warm compared to much of the country,
Krevolin has penned dozens of books, plays and screenplays. Last year he published “40 Considerables:
A Little Purple Book to Help You Navigate Life’s Gray Areas & Live More Colorfully”.
“I’ve always loved teaching,” he said. “I’ve been teaching for nearly 40 years, but I’ve always thought of myself as a writer and a creator, first and foremost. Now, I think on some levels I might be more of a teacher and mentor than a writer.”
