Wordstock ‘experience … was transformative
(an excerpt from an article in Sun Media)
One of Krevolin’s clients who both participates in the weekly virtual session and attended Wordstock is Dr. Andrea Gropman. A newcomer to the world of book writing, Dr. Gropman did not know what to expect,
or what she might learn.
“My experience at Wordstock was transformative,” Gropman said. “Under the expert guidance of master storytellers and publishing professionals, I learned how to craft a compelling narrative and hook my readers from the very first sentence.” As a physician, Dr. Gropman’s training always emphasized concise, direct writing--
often in the passive voice—with strict word limits imposed by grants, presentations, and scientific publications.
“But writing a semi-memoir, a nonfiction story about my decades as a rare disease doctor and the lessons my patients taught me, required a totally different approach,” she said. “I didn’t truly understand what it meant to ‘doctor’ until I was out in the field,
experiencing the humanity of medicine firsthand and listen to patient stories.”
This was the theme, she said, and Krevolin and accomplished author Robert Rotenberg, helped her “find my voice,” while literary agent Paula Munier “guided me toward my audience. They taught me the ‘anatomy’ of a book — not just how to structure a story,
but how to make it resonate for a diverse audience.”
